Little drops of sunshine! The Lemon Drop Sedum (Sedum 'Lemon Drop') features bright yellow flowers in late summer and fall! The darling round clusters of lemony star-shaped florets are arranged on equally bright green rounded clusters of foliage!
The succulent frosty green leaves on this easy-to-grow perennial plant! Bees and butterflies love the yellow flowers! The mounds form neat and tidy domes of brilliant color, staying just 6 inches in height but spreading into rounded 8-12 inch wide mounds!
Cold-hardy and heat-tolerant throughout USDA growing zones 4 to 9, Lemon Drop is also known as Stonecrop, which are xeric, adaptable little perennial ornamentals that do well in a wide range of conditions except shade and soggy ground! This plant is a tender perennial and will completely defoliate and die back to the main rootstock in the winter, but come spring you'll enjoy a flush of fresh new, uniform growth!
Planting and Application:
These bright gems are perfect for running along the edge of a landscaping bed, easing the transition between lawn and garden! The bright color easily calls attention to itself anywhere you plant it! Let ramble and fill in between larger shrubs, and as skirting at the base of trees or sculptures, and your mailbox will never be missed once Lemon Drop starts to bloom!
Rows, groupings, and en masse plantings call the most attention! Create large swaths or clusters everywhere in your landscape to tie it all together! These spreading mounding perennials are ideal as living mulch or groundcover, filling bare ground, slow erosion on slopes, and creating a spectacle out of a hard-to-mow hillside!
Top retaining walls, plant throughout the Rock Garden, brighten the edges of a Cottage garden, or line a set of stone steps, these little gems are up to the challenge! Because Sedum thrives in drier soils, it is a welcome addition to the rugged conditions of the average sun garden, thrives in the harsh hell strip, and is recommended for use around the fire-wise landscape!
This neat and tidy mounded Stonecrop is perfect for both formal and informal plantings in the sun! Pop a few into container gardens and planters to keep the theme going on your porch or patio too! Even window boxes and balconies can enjoy these brilliant sunspots!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
This is a low-maintenance plant that is very content to just be! Lemon Drop actually thrives in full sun and poor soil but can do well in pampered garden conditions too. During the first season, give it a medium amount of water on a regular basis. After the fleshy roots are well-established in your soil, you can ease off on the supplemental water. We always recommend that you protect your investment with water in a prolonged drought. Even though Sedum is a water-wise perennial, they do appreciate a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch around the root zone to keep more moisture consistency in the soil.
For a clean-looking appearance, prune back the old foliage that died back in the winter, before new growth begins in the early spring. Once you plant it and get it well established, you'll never have to bother with it again, save for when you want to divide it to share with friends or to expand its territory in your own garden.
