Brash yellows are easy to come by in the garden, soft yellows, not so much. Especially buttery yellows that won't fade to white, turn brown, or are too ephemeral to last through the heat of summer! Enter the Proven Winners® Double Scoop™ Lemon Cream Coneflower PP27,858 (Echinacea x 'Balsclemc')!

This lovely new color is like your Grandma's banana pudding - pretty enough to eat! Unlike most Coneflowers that have spikey raised domes, these unique blooms have fluffy pom-pom centers with backward drooping toothy petals that look like they are ready to take off into the sky!

The flowers are double pom-poms making them very fluffy and very touchable - which is good because they look great in vases. These are hardy and steady growers. The foliage stays dark green all summer long. Birds, Hummingbirds, and butterflies love them!

The color is sweet, but the plant is strong - a vigorous grower, strong branching, and a prolific bloom. The whole DOUBLE SCOOP™ Coneflower brand is a newer introduction of Echinacea and they are bred for plenty of flowering, hardiness, and beauty!

Able to weather the intense heat and humidity of a southern summer as well as the biting cold winters of more northern climes USDA planting zones 4 to 9, this pretty perennial will astound you year after year! Leave some spent flower blooms on at the end of the fall so that the songbirds can feast on the seed heads over the winter as interest.

#ProPlantTips for Care:

These herbaceous perennial plants thrive in the hottest and sunniest sites! Best in full sun, Echinacea are hardy, tolerant, and drought-tolerant once established. Plant with Nature Hills Root Booster and access to yearly fertility to keep the blooms popping! While not particular on soil type, Echinacea does great in most soil types as long as they are well-drained! For better results, enrich the soil with compost and organic material.

Provide moderate, yet consistent moisture for new plants, then afterward, established Coneflowers only need supplemental moisture during prolonged heat and drought. All plants can be kept stress-free with a 3-4-inch layer of arborist mulch.

Divide clumps when they become overcrowded, which can be about every 4 years. Lemon Cream usually reblooms without deadheading, but if spent flowers are removed, this will encourage continued beautiful blooms and improve general appearance. If you leave some spent blooms on the plants in the fall their seeds provide winter food for birds. You can enjoy the dried seed heads as well because they will provide architectural interest in the winter.
