It is deer resistant, drought-tolerant, and no maintenance once the roots are established.This plant grows best in full sun and well-drained soil.Water Weigelas deeply when planting and 2 times per week for the first 2 to 3 months while they are establishing. Once established, Weigelas are drought tolerant and only need to be watered in areas that are very hot or dry. They will need to be watered when they are planted in containers when the soil has dried out.Add 1 to 2 inches of mulch after planting to prevent weeds, protect your plant’s roots in extreme temperatures, and reduce watering needs.Fertilize with our balanced slow-release fertilizer in spring.
